LEARNING LEVELS
Latin Camp welcomes students who are NEW to Latin, as well as those with some academic EXPERIENCE with the language. Described here are the attributes of each level to help students and parents self-select. Latin Camp is designed to welcome students to the joys of learning an ancient language in the mode of a small group, online classroom. Within our registered groups we aim to ensure students are within the correct mix of challenge and comfort with the material.
The PRIMUS (LEVEL 1) Latin learner is someone interested in learning Latin and making connections to the classical world. They may have learned a few words of Latin on their own, but they want to join a more formal teaching environment with others. ita vero (yes)!
PRIMUS LEVEL learners are:
• ages 10 and up
• inquisitive
• interested in making connections between the classical world and today
• keen to read Latin words
* Latin Camp will place participants in similar age / grade level groupings where possible
The TERTIUS (3) LEVEL Latin learner has already completed Secundus with us or they have had formal Latin classroom experience.
TERTIUS LEVEL learners may be:
• aged 10 and up
• have completed the SECUNDUS LEVEL
• already comfortable with the Latin language
• keen to keep learning with a group of like-minded students
* Latin Camp will place participants in similar age / grade level groupings where possible
The SECUNDUS (2) LEVEL Latin learner has already taken Primus with us or has taken Latin in school. They would like to develop their skills further.
SECUNDUS LEVEL learners may be:
• aged 10 and up
• have completed PRIMUS LEVEL
• are still curious
• knows the different noun cases and their roles
• wants to improve their knowledge of Latin
* Latin Camp will place participants in similar age / grade level groupings where possible
The QUARTUS (4) LEVEL Latin learner has already completed Tertius with us or they have had formal Latin classroom experience.
QUARTUS LEVEL learners may be:
• aged 10 and up
• have completed TERTIUS LEVEL
• already comfortable with the Latin language
• keen to keep learning with a group of like-minded students
* Latin Camp will place participants in similar age / grade level groupings where possible
The QUINTUS (5) LEVEL Latin learner has already completed Quartus with us or they have had formal Latin classroom experience.
QUINTUS LEVEL learners may be:
• aged 10 and up
• have completed QUARTUS LEVEL
• already comfortable with the Latin language
• keen to keep learning with a group of like-minded students
